Sundays in the Winter

Sundays during the winter season are special. Usually I would need to be doing things on both days of the weekend, but Sundays in the winter have taught me the reality of taking things slow. It reminds me of the two different lifestyles I’ve lived: the fast paced New York and the slow paced Savannah. Someone recently asked me what it was like to live in both settings and looking back, I wouldn’t have changed a thing. Each lifestyle was timed perfectly. I needed the slow paced Sav lifestyle when I was still studying in school and needed to focus…not to say I wasn’t hugely distracted from time to time. And I certainly needed the fast paced NY when I was entering the real world with my big girl job and unfortunately, big girl bills. Now that I’m not living either lifestyle, I’ve developed my own pace in California. Fast when I want to be and slow when I want it to be (how life changing!). Sometimes I literally have to slow myself down and sometimes I have to hype myself just to go out to the grocery store. I've come to liking Sundays; it used to give me anxiety because it was the last day of the weekend and usually that meant doing homework or the chores I neglected to do on Saturday or on my wfh days. Now they give me time to recollect, to reset , to sorta meal prep (??), and clean. Am I a true adult now?! Haha hell no.
