2023 was an incredibly challenging year, but I made it to the finish line. And so did you!
January
January tends to be a challenging year, falling into the Winter slump. I try to be comfy and cozy but end up feeling restless. I’m stuck inside due to a particularly heavy rainy season. I started doing at-home-workouts and that kind of made it better?
February
My sisters and I took our first trip together to Disneyland. We had the best time. We have many years between us and this was our first trip where we had the time…and money lol. I love my sisters so much. Get yourself a sister!
March
My company moved to a new office in a different city. Took myself on many beach dates. I always make sure I have a bowl of clam chowder with me…
April
I went to my first fabric show of the year in Portland. Got hit by a car as a pedestrian (the drama!!). Drank a margarita at 11am. Had fun, made new connections, and certainly had a story to tell when I got back home.
May
i went on a work trip to Taiwan, ALONE. It was a wild and exciting experience that only I will be reeling in.
I’ll probably write about this trip in a separate post, just because!
June
What I thought would be the best birthday month turned out to be the most heartbreaking. my partner and I decided to go our separate ways. Certainly a knife to the heart but all love and no regrets.
The day after my birthday/breakup, I went to see Kelsea Ballerini and it was the perfect start to my healing journey.
July
July seemed to fly by. I was still picking up the pieces from my breakup. I’d spent so much time planning the future that I stopped living in the moment and forgot who I was and what made me happy.
A co-worker invited me to a pole dance class and the rest is history.
August
My family and I traveled to North Carolina for a family friend’s wedding. Can’t believe how fast we are all growing up!
I continued to pursue pole dancing. It challenged me to look at myself in the mirror (literally) and dance through my heartbreak, low self-esteem, and discomfort with my own body.
I went to see Post Malone and thoroughly enjoyed it. Made another female friend who attended the concert solo. Like my mom always said, “you never know who you’ll meet!”
September
I was missing my best friend, Jess, who moved to Miami not long after I left New York. She is an incredible lady in Science doing things I could not even imagine. It was way too short of a trip but nothing ever compares to being with someone you love.
Also, Miami is overrated and I will never be moving there. Ok, bye.
October
My girlies and I had our first showcase and I must say that we absolutely KILLED it. I’m so proud of us. I’m proud of me and how far I’ve come (in terms of dancing/performing).
November
Again, how fast time has flown! My high school had our 10 year reunion where I caught up with old friends. For some of us, we had gone to elementary and high school, so it was like a 20 year reunion! WILD!
December
I probably need reign it in a little bit but after a tipsy bath moment, I booked a trip to New York. Seriously though, what is better than NY during Christmastime?! It was a short trip but I made sure to fill everyday with friends, food, and laughter. Even though I’m far from everyone, it doesn’t feel like I ever left. And that is the best feeling. New York will always be my #1 bae.
