uganda | day four
Monday we woke up quite early to head out to teach at our first school, Rwemikoma (this was about a two and a hour drive). In all honesty, I was quite nervous to teach because I had imagined that these children were the best of the best and I was not worthy of coming in and trying to teach them a lesson about animals. Come to find out that-yes, they are the best students but no, I am worthy of anything that Christ puts into my heart. My first session was successful and the kids loves it!! Y'ALL. Nothing brings me greater joy than to see people I love happy!!
Drought and water are big issues. It has been difficult for finding a way for the students and anyone that lives around that area to have contact with clean water. Rwemikoma had not had a heavy rainfall since January. Guys, we are so lucky we don't have the fear for the absence of water. I'm telling you though, God does great things and brings miracles to those who praise His name! During our lunch break, it started sprinkling...then it was complete downpour!
After an awesome first day, we made our way to Katyazo to have a s'mores party with the students!! I'm so proud of my team for putting together over 700 s'more for the teachers and students to enjoy. All of the kids were so excited to have a dessert so sweet (since they usually stick to posho and beans kind-of-meal). We danced, played games, laughed until our stomachs hurt and hugged, hugged, hugged!
